40th post. Updates and other such shiznit

College starts wednesday. I haven't picked up my books because Josh said to wait until I attend the first day of the class in case the professor says I don't need it so I don't spend a bunch of money right away. Speaking of bunch of money, I got my motha effin grant check so now I'm rakin it in.

I got a job too! Dollar General is ok. I know I complain about how the managers are kinda making me deny their reliability but it's not a bad job. Weekly pay. That's good.

I kinda jacked up my knee earlier this past week. I wrecked my bike on a street that is now under construction. (irony)

My cousin is getting married on Saturday. Seems like just yesterday he, Josh, and I were getting in Super Soaker wars with the rest of the neighborhood kids. Oh! And I have a date. Cami is going with me, so that's pretty awesome. Although it's pretty clear to me that it will be a "just friends" thing. She didn't say it but I was just kinda...able to get the hint, know what I mean? Context clues and whatnot from conversations. Oh well, I'm not complaining.

It would be nice to date her though. After all she's really easy to talk to, artistic, my height, and frickin gorgeous. All of that = super win. I also like how she colors her hair. Natural blonde with colors that vary when she dies it. Kinda like Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim.

Anyway, enough stupid little crushy crush mushy mush. I'm gettin close to forming another ska band that might actually get some gigs! XD oh frick yeah.

so in closing, my friends, I say now more enthusiastically than ever:

SNOOCH TO THE MOTHER F***IN NOOCH!!

a little message to a certain someone

It's frustrating when you're trying to have a conversation with someone yet you feel like you can't say anything that doesn't seem to rub them the wrong way. Seriously. I've never heard of Falling in Reverse OR Escape the Fate. Not my fault. It's just not my style of music. I listen to 90's music, 80's rock, jazz, and most of all Ska. I listened to Falling in Reverse's new song and thought it was pretty good. So I figured I'd tell you. Well apparently the lead singer used to be in Escape the Fate. That means approximately (555x555)(0) to me. I'm so sorry you're ashamed to call me one of your good friends because I don't know your favorite band. (I don't even care if it was a joke like it most likely was.) You change it every 3 weeks. Last I heard it was Avenged Sevenfold, then Black Veil Brides. All of which you didn't become a fan of until you liked some guy from Chicago whom you've only talked to via electronic device.

Question. How many of MY favorite bands do you know? Thought so. It's not that hard when I talk about ska and stuff all the time. But you've never had a crush on me so I guess that's why.

You're so fake. I wish I could tell you but I won't. Because I deep down I still have some feelings for you and want to do anything to make you happy even though I know we'll never actually go out and I don't really want to go out with you all that much anyway (it dwindles every second). Pretty pathetic eh? It doesn't hurt that your sister feels like a little sister to me and, thus, I want to keep you happy so i can still be able to spend time with her.

It really sucks. Believe me I wish I could say all this right to you. Put it in a little envelope sealed with a sparkly sticker and just be done with it. I'm too passive-aggressive for that though. I'd rather try to bait you into a trap by talking about my favorite band just to call you out on 'being a close friend yet you aren't even aware of my favorite band.' Now THAT'S pathetic.

I honestly don't know why I even try anymore. I only like you because you like final fantasy, you're fun to be around, you're honestly gorgeous and my mom despises you. I guess I've always had trouble trying to make things as cut and dry as I want them to be. I can never just like someone or dislike someone. I always have to find some redeeming quality in everyone. I guess I should've just not commented on that wall post last summer. We were better friends when we weren't talking to each other and I didn't let stupid little crushes turn me into a little puppy who always wanted to be around you. I made that mistake before and almost lost a friend. It's only by luck and her good graces that she's a better friend to me than virtually everyone else.

I know I shouldn't get this angry over a 10 comment conversation from a link to a music video for a mediocre band that doesn't sound bad but isn't anything special. But it definitely builds up after a while.

It's really funny how I've put all this work into being your friend and trying to get you to like me whereas there's a girl whom I've only known since prom that I think might just dig me. And if she doesn't at least I know she likes stuff because SHE likes it. She knows I'm not a scene-ish guy who has his hair in front of his eyes. I'm not super thin and I prefer to wear properly fitting jeans. So what if I prefer my music with a little brass and not so much black makeup? As the great Popeye once said, "I am who I am and that's all that I am."

and I am finished. I'm actually starting to be a fan of myself again. I feel good with myself. Yeah I kind of faltered this past school year in self-confidence but there have been quite a few refreshers and lessons learned in just this one month of summer that's shown me just who I want to be.

No more trying to please everyone else.

I still need to work on my rambling though. and to you two who read this sorry bout that hehe. This started as a rant then became a mild introspective.

Just the beginning?

Everyone told me 'this isn't the end. it's just the beginning' well then I guess the last 18 years were one hell of a prologue.

I graduated and am now able to tell the Vigo County School Corp to eff the heck off.

Now I get to go to college for 4 years and then my life REALLY starts!...wait what? I went to school for almost 14 some odd years (counting pre-school) just to start...then I go to school for four more years to...start again...FFFFUUUUUUUUUUuuuu (trails off into the distance)

Whew! Now that THAT's over I can get to the checklist of life updates.

- Had my final days with my childrens
- graduated
- found out the girl I like that I thought I could've dated successfully (and I thought I was picking up signals from) has a boyfriend.
- almost fell into the scam of Vector marketing thinking it was a real work opportunity (i say it's a scam because you have to lease knives for 135 bucks then try to sell them and make $15.50 for every appointment you make. glad i looked all that up)
- realized I like Kara more than I actually want to. (if that makes any sense WHATSOEVER)
- Decided that I'm a complete idiot with no idea what he's doing for the future
- got $355 at my grad party
- had fun at my grad party despite my cousin gettin into some shenanigans (grabbing Kara's butt...again. for example)

got a new policy for the bad things that happen in life.
it goes a lil somethin like this here picture

and I intend to do just that.

Happy Summer everyone. oh and of course: snooch to the nooch.

Some good days

This past friday was the Jazz Dinner. It was AMAZING! Food was good, bands were good, and I moved the earth with a time shattering conga solo.

Saturday: Don't even get me started. Most fun EVVAARRRR!! Prom with the beautiful Brittany Ferrari, danced with her and the group (alla, beka, colin boggs, dustin, and the gang) only hung around the band kids for a few minutes. That was a good idea for the most part because, while they are fun, they all have their group and stayed with each other the whole time. I'm a natural party man and as such I gotta work the whole room. I was with the group, then with them for a little bit, talked to my man Moffett for a few, danced and got danced on with/by Kara and got to know Myra Wright as a result of her hangin with kara (she's an acquaintance I had but was never really friends with) all in all it was a good prom. I felt the DJ could've been better by just playing the full song but that's neither here nor there. Afterprom was surprisingly fun. Since not a lot of people went it wasn't super crowded and there was a lot to do. Danced some more and did some other good stuff. Made a new-ish (again, another that I knew but never really was friends with for the only reason being never having the opportunity of talking to them) miss Cami Miller. Fantastic night with even greater people.

Sunday was recoup day. Chilled. It was truly a day of rest.

Monday: Concert went fairly well. A few minor hiccups but nothing tragic during the performance. Jazz killed it once again with miss Kitty Shaw on vocals and yours truly on the congas during City. At the awards presentation murph messed me up like twice because he first had me in the wrong order then called my name before someone else's. Which didn't really offend me because it was kinda funny, plus I got to talk to Schatz for a few minutes and joke around about it. Then senior awards came. First on the list was the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. I was kind of expecting to get it but hearing my name called for it just filled me with pure energy and amazement. I almost cried when Schatz shook my hand and said thanks for the last four years but I held it all together. A few more awards were called and I thought I was done going up on stage for the evening. However that would change when Murph got to the Patrick S. Gilmore award and he surprisingly called my name. So two awards in one night. Most triumphant indeed.

Closing statements: This weekend was pretty boss, I had the best date at the prom, I'm not that bad of a dancer, I maaaaayyyy reopen the whole kara thing (not likely), I might begin a slight flirtation with Cami (kind of likely), and I finally got to see what genuinely good days are like and I plan on having more (extremely likely).

hmm

Dreams are odd. I've heard that they're windows into the subconscious but honestly they're just oddities. The human brain, to be honest, is really the strangest thing. I've had dreams lately about two of my past crushes. One was Kara and the other was Arika Girts. Now the kara one was easy to simply brush off. But Arika has now been in two dreams. Last night's was the weirdest.

I dreamed I was in the south auditorium and a few friends of mine were singing Slow Down by Reel Big Fish (not a one of them was involved with music in reality) and Arika was getting ready to leave and even though I didn't want her to go I accepted and gave her a hug and she started to leave. I then picked her up (she was very light by the way. Still not sure how I could judge weight in a dream but whatever. Anyway I carried her out of the auditorium and I woke up...sort of...

I was awake enough to know I was facedown and laying with my arms between the bed and my stomach, yet I wasn't awake awake. Like I could think but I couldn't move anything. It felt like my whole body was asleep in the sense that someone's leg falls asleep from lack of circulation. I had to force my whole body to move before I could even open my eyes. Worried? Yes I was a little bit. However I'm pretty sure it was just another dream that I didn't realize was a dream (why i couldn't move anything) and my forcing of my body to move was simply me waking up and my body reacting to it. Whatever it was it was weeeiiiirrrdddd.

That's all folks. This week is Battle of the Bands and AP Macroeconomics. Next week is prom. Snoogans.

Time for resolution.

If you haven't guessed I've been pretty bi-polar in these last ...every blog post I've ever had. To be perfectly honest I'm thinking that what's got me so angry is less of everyone else and more of just me. This year I've turned into the type of person that I despise. I've talked about some of my best friends 'behind their back' and have been kind of cold to quite a few people. After all, getting so fired up over a stupid little talent show is pretty lame. So it's time to resolve some issues and confess a few things to a few people that are going to be extremely difficult to say. So keep me in your thoughts, or if you're religious then pray for me. I'm going to need a good bit of help in this regard. For the record I'm not telling anyone off or anything like that so I should be fine. For once in a looong time I'm actually aiming at securing and fixing a few friendships instead of saying 'maybe it's time I broke a few friendships off.' Weirdest thing is that it took Murph to kind of inspire me because he stated "I don't want the seniors ending the year as enemies" in regards to a small bit of drama over a percussion vamp for the revue before the indoor performance (which we're not doing. so make that the third thing to fail for me in this revue). So, things to do NOW

Reconcile and cure my conscience
Two days of Revue with Wind Ensemble contest on saturday
AP Weeks
SMASH Battle of the Bands
Get prom tickets
Find a job? (hopefully. I need teh cash monies)
Go to prom with the best person ever who totally brightened up my day with Elvis music
Graduate.

A bunch of lazy morons

is the definition of my fellow seniors. Every year we have a senior skit for the Revue. It's one of the favorite acts (well it used to be. It got kinda suckish last year). However this year there currently isn't one. I was talking to Katie today and asked what the senior skit was going to be, assuming that it was done and ready for the Revue NEXT THURSDAY and that I had just been left out of the loop as the band kids usually are with these kinds of things, and she literally said, "Well, we left a spot open in the revue for it, but it hasn't been made yet."

Really? REALLY? Hasn't been made yet! The revue's in seven days! The act is literally expected out of every revue and it didn't occur to those stuck up little sons of bitches we call a student council to think up a fricking senior skit? They put the time slot in! That's what doesn't make sense! I can understand if they had just decided not to do it because they might've been bogged down with other acts in the show but to put a time slot in for it and not ask a single person to do it is RIDICULOUS AT BEST!!! So I decided to try and put one together. With Joseph at my right hand side and my loyal people (the ones that actually HAVE work ethic both in and out of band including Cindy Himes and Matt Kendall) backin me up. Maybe we can pull this off...maybe. All I know is that if this is successful, Joseph and I, (narcissism in 3..2..1) Well just I really...need an award.

I'm still just baffled that it took me asking what it was in order to be able to do it because I still am 98% sure that if I hadn't, we wouldn't have had a Senior Skit. Of course what can you expect from the class that let the X-Factor student section go to crap and elected a class president who doesn't even want to pay attention for five minutes of class, let alone DO anything for the school. Ugh...Frustrations. I wish I had graduated in 08 because my brother never cared about this stuff and it would've been nice to be in the last graduating class that didn't totally suck at this kind of thing. (09 was ok but 2010 is definitely where the ball droppage started to occur as we began the influx of the douchewagons that didn't care about anything)

Well any way there's my current pissiness for the evening. Later peeps.
